all the voyage of
their life is bound in shallows
and in miseries …
Adapted from the play, Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare.
In Act 4, Scene 3, Big Bill’s has this passage spoken by Brutus.
There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves
Or lose our ventures.
So so so many times I have heard the words:
This is it …
Now he has gone too far …
The Courts can stop him now …
The Proscutors can stop him now …
Congress can stop him now …
And nothing.
Now we look to an election 18 days away.
We are being told this is where it will stop.
This is where it will stop because there is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves
Or lose our ventures.
