September 1 – prismatic sunlight

prismatic sunlight
private rainbows on the wall
God’s promise and me

Using the phrase, reflections on a sunny more, treads too close to a pun so I won’t say it.

Sitting this morning with coffee.

Seeing the morning sunlight hit the window glass at the right angle to create a prismatic effect and display a rainbow on the wall.

On one of those mornings when you decide to take a pad and draw a line down the middle and list all today’s pluses on the left and minuses on the right.

The left is side is lean.

The right side needs a second page.

Then, there is rainbow on the wall.

And its just for me.

Just the message I needed to start today.

And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.

Genesis 6:12-17 (NIV)

August 24 – sunlight, bright, clear, loud

sunlight, bright, clear, loud
world in motion, spinning round
new day, same old way

There is a quality to the sunlight down here in Georgia.

It’s a reoccurring theme in these notes.

It is brighter.

It is clearer.

It is stronger.

It is, some how, loud, in its brightness.

Being in it, seeing it, waking up to it, makes you feel better just for its being there.

It starts shining bright every morning.

The same and always different.

Always new.

May 5 – Thundery Rain Chance

Thundery Rain Chance
Heard on Brit weather report
Spot on for Georgia

Actually I heard this years ago and continue to hear on the weather from London listening to ClassicFM at work.

Since first hearing it, I have been petitioning my good friend, Chesley McNeil at 11Alive to use it here in the United States as it is perfect for the weather the we are having right now.

I am not sure about ‘Bucket Lists’ as I see them as being somewhat limiting in scope, but I would die a happy man if I can get Chesley to adopt the use of ‘thundery rain’ in his forecast.
